Tips To Avoid Bed Bugs While Traveling

When traveling the world, it is pertinent to avoid bringing bedbugs home with you. Otherwise, you’re going to run into serious problems when you get home, and you may regret your trip. Thankfully, there are several things you can do to avoid issues. Below, you’ll find tips for avoiding bedbugs while traveling the world.

Checking The Room

First, you’ll need to check your motel room carefully. If the room doesn’t contain bedbugs, you have nothing to worry about. If it is infested with bedbugs, the risks are high. You’ll need to ask for a new room because you don’t want the bedbugs entering your luggage or clothes. If this happens, you’ll take the bedbugs home with you.

Check Under Items

Once you’ve quickly surveyed the room, you’ll need to check closer. The problem is that bedbugs are incredibly small so they’re difficult to find. On top of this, they tend to hide in the smallest cracks and corners. With that being said, you need to search under items as well. Remove the sheets from the bed and check both sides of the mattress. You can also check under furniture and other items.

Use The Luggage Rack

Don’t forget to use the room’s luggage rack. Doing so can reduce the likelihood that you’re going to run into issues in the future. Using the luggage rack is a good way to avoid issues. Bedbugs can climb on furniture and walls. Therefore, you need to place your luggage on the rack. Doing so will prevent bedbugs from climbing the wall and hiding in your luggage.

Check At Home

When you return home, you’ll need to take steps to avoid bringing bedbugs in with you. One way to do that is by carefully checking your items before going inside. Doing so will make a big difference in the long run. It’ll help ensure that you don’t carry bedbugs in with you. Search your belongings in an exterior room such as a garage or utility room.

Dry Them

Finally, you’ll want to throw your items into your dryer to eliminate bedbugs. Using the dryer is a good way to eliminate bedbugs. They cannot tolerate the extreme heat, so they’ll die. Let them stay in the dryer for 15 minutes or longer to kill them.

Even if you take these steps, there is a risk that you’re going to have to deal with a bedbug infestation. Calling a professional is the best way to fix the problem.
